Constant Connection Conference Highlights, "It's a Man's World" Premiere, and More!
Buon Giorno, amici, and welcome to the part of my life where I will be dropping insufferable foreign-language phrases to remind you that I have, in fact, been to Europe.
That’s right - our family is back from a whirlwind tour of Rome, Florence, Naples, Santorini, Mykanos and Ephesus. Personally, I am going through pastry withdrawal, missing gelato and haunting the grocery aisles of Boise, Idaho looking for “Dubai-style” flavored anything.

Constant Connection Conference
As soon as we were back in the states, I had to turn around almost right away to fly to Philadelphia for the Anastasis Center’s “Constant Connection” conference. It was a wonderful time of fellowship with other Christians who are passionate about Christ-shaped spiritual formation. Some takeaways from the sessions:
God’s anger over sin has never caused him to “disconnect” from us; actually he is the one constantly trying to “reconnect” when we turn away.
Emotional maturity for the Christian is not being “pro” or “anti” emotion, but letting our emotions be shaped by the emotional life of Christ.
As children we learn to regulate our emotions by being connected to a well-regulated adult; in Christian formation Jesus is the “well-regulated adult” we can co-regulate our emotions with.
Hayley Rose and I also had the opportunity to give a presentation on how the “social virtues” - including empathy, attachment and moral persuasion - went from being universal virtues to “women’s work,” and the effects of that shift for male-female relationships and leadership models in the church and society.
